About us:
The Eurocell companies are subsidiaries of the Ranex Group, a privately owned company based in Christchurch.
Our history:
The owners of the Ranex have an association with timber going back to their involvement with the logging industry in the South Island. They also successfully farmed, and owned several other businesses before an opportunity arose to take over a small timber yard in Christchurch. A hands-on approach coupled with practical analysis of operational processes and enhancements to mechanical systems saw the manufacturing operation thrive. Investment in up to date technology and equipment allowed further development, requiring larger premises to keep pace with increased demand.
With production levels increasing supply of timber became an issue. In 2006 in order to secure framing supplies the business purchased the Moutere Timber sawmill, based on the outskirts of Nelson.
In 2009 the directors made the strategic decision that Moutere Timber would focus on producing solely Douglas fir and the company would expand into production of Radiata framing by securing the Eurocell Sawmill in Wellington.
The acquisition of Nelson-based Hunter Laminates - manufacturing fingerjointed, glulam and engineered products in the same year, provided the company with a full range of timber solutions to cater to all facets of the market. A distributorship for Nelson Pine LVL products was added to the range in 2010.
Eurocell has a subsidiary business, Hunterbond, focusing on architectural project work using engineered timber products designed for the construction industry.
The company attributes its success to the investment in machinery, technology, quality control and the focus of the owners of continually improving productivity to maximise returns.
